The system was devised collaboratively by the Danish association of motor vehicle importers (De Danske Bilimportører) and Denmark's Road Safety and Transport Agency (Færdelsstyrelsen). Resultmaker supplied the workflow technology and project consultancy to implement their ideas.
The Danish Minister of Transport, Flemming Hansen, called the project an excellent example of cooperation between the private and public sectors. The application process was not only digitized, it was also streamlined at the same time, reducing the amount of information required from applicants by one-third.
"The new digital system...gives everyone involved significant advantages," the Minister of Transport stated. "It's right in line with the government's policy about IT and the simplification of administrative processes."
Bent Mikkelsen, director of the importers' association, was also enthusiastic. "Where it used to take a couple of weeks to get a new vehicle type approved," he stated, "it now can be done digitally in a matter of minutes. Needless to say, this is a great advantage not only for the importers, but also for the automobile sector as a whole and, in the final analysis, for consumers."
