Digital Citizens’ Service was developed by a consortium consisting of Resultmaker, Novo Nordisk IT and Kommuneinformation. By implementing it, Denmark became the first country to let citizens fill out all municipal forms online, using a digital signature.
In this win-win situation, citizens benefit by having 24-hour access and by being guided intelligently through the various forms. The municipality wins by receiving higher quality data than on old-fashioned paper forms, which saves time and, ultimately, money.
Digital Citizens' Service has attracted the interest of numerous other Danish municipalities that are considering using the system. Feedback from this review process has already set in motion the development of additional functionality that will make it possible for people to carry out all their interactions with the municipality online, not just filling out forms.
